MRP urges SP to end political interference in justice for marginalized communities

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Leaders of the Mahajanarajyam Party, under the leadership of Founding President Sangati Manohar Mahajan, submitted a memorandum to the Kadapa District Superintendent of Police EG Ashok Kumar on Saturday, demanding strict measures to prevent political pressure and interference in cases related to SC, ST, BC, Minority, women, and other oppressed communities.

Call for independent, impartial policing

The memorandum highlights growing concerns over political leaders’ interference in police functioning, particularly in cases concerning weaker sections. Party leaders expressed that local police often wait for political instructions before registering FIRs, resulting in denial of natural justice to genuine victims.

Allegations of systemic failure

The leaders Ramdayal Jadav, Sheik Ameen Peera, Pellakuri Venkatesham and Kanugula Subbaramaiah pointed out that in many instances, FIRs, charge sheets, and even prosecutions are influenced by political interests. They noted that nearly 99% of such cases are being dismissed or end without adequate punishment for the accused, revealing a systemic breakdown in delivering justice.

Need for rule of law and administrative reform

The petition urged the SP to uphold the Rule of Law by ensuring that police act strictly according to existing laws, rules, government orders, and standing instructions—free from political involvement. They called for district-wide instructions, in the form of a memo or circular, to all police stations to ensure impartial case handling.

Vision for change and accountability

The MRP leaders appealed to the SP to take the lead in initiating a new, transparent legal and administrative culture. They emphasized the need for honesty, commitment, foresight, and accountability in public service, urging the official to adopt a non-political, victim-centric legal approach that strengthens public trust in law enforcementm, and to become an example for others across the state and the country.

Appeal for state and national replication

They concluded by stating that any reform initiated in Kadapa should set a precedent for broader reform across Andhra Pradesh and India. The leaders hope that with proper actions, the district could become a model for a more just, fair, and crime-free society.
