Net News: The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2025 was successfully conducted on May 4, across India and international centers, with over 20.8 lakh candidates appearing for the examination. The National Testing Agency (NTA) implemented stringent security measures to ensure the integrity of the exam, resulting in a largely incident-free process.
Nationwide examination with enhanced oversight
NEET-UG 2025 was held in approximately 5,500 centers across 552 cities in India and 14 international locations. The NTA, in coordination with 180 central institutions, verified center preparedness, while state-level committees oversaw logistics and security. Mock drills were conducted to assess security arrangements, and question papers were transported under police escort to prevent leaks.
Isolated malpractice incidents addressed
Despite the overall smooth conduct, isolated incidents of malpractice were reported. The NTA debarred 17 candidates from Bihar and 30 from Gujarat for engaging in unfair practices during the exam. The agency emphasized that these incidents did not compromise the integrity of the examination process.
NTA’s proactive measures against malpractice
In response to past irregularities, the NTA launched a dedicated platform for reporting suspicious claims related to NEET-UG. Candidates were advised to be cautious of unscrupulous elements attempting to deceive them with false claims. The agency’s proactive approach aimed to maintain transparency and trust in the examination system.
Exam pattern and candidate experience
The NEET-UG 2025 exam reverted to a three-hour duration, requiring candidates to attempt all 180 questions without optional choices. The question paper was divided into three sections: Physics (45 questions), Chemistry (45 questions), and Biology (90 questions). Some candidates found the exam challenging due to its length and difficulty level.
The successful conduct of NEET-UG 2025 reflects the NTA’s commitment to ensuring a fair and secure examination process. While isolated incidents of malpractice were addressed promptly, the overall integrity of the exam remained intact. The agency’s continued efforts to enhance transparency and prevent irregularities are crucial for maintaining public confidence in national-level examinations.
