Rally announcement
The Netakani Mahar Caste Association will hold a state-level meeting on April 20, at 12:00 noon in Mancherial, expecting thousands to attend. Announced during a key workers’ meeting at the Mancherial district center, the event aims to address critical issues facing the community. State President Gavvala Srikanth called for unity, warning that failure to act risks severe consequences for future generations.
Key demands
The rally will focus on education and employment challenges for the Netakani Mahar caste. Srikanth demanded the formation of a special corporation with an annual budget allocation of Rs 1,000 crore to support community development. He also called for nominated posts and reserved MP, MLA, and MLC seats for the caste across political parties. Additionally, Srikanth opposed the SC classification resolution in the assembly, urging legal action to block it.
Cultural and ideological push
Srikanth proposed organizing vihara yatras across the state to promote Buddhist initiation and Dr. B R Ambedkar’s principles. These yatras aim to strengthen cultural identity and mobilize the community around shared values, fostering awareness and solidarity.
Call to action
Describing the rally as a “struggle for our lives,” Srikanth stressed that the community faces a “big danger” if it does not unite now. He warned of future losses in education and job opportunities, urging students, youth, and employees to prioritize collective interests over political affiliations. Srikanth invited other castes supporting the cause to join the fight, framing it as a national movement to avoid betrayal of future generations.
The workers’ meeting saw participation from leaders, including Durgam Swami Rao, K Rajalingu, Joint District President D Raj Kumar, S Vidyasagar, Gandham Shankar, and others K Rajesh, J Aruna, P Pushpalatha and B Raja Rao.
