Doruvupaul Jagan Babu : Bureau Chief-South

In the vast expanse of rural India, where poverty often looms large and opportunities are scarce, the principle of “Mercy to the needy is a loan to God” serves as a guiding light, illuminating the path toward a more compassionate society.

This timeless concept underscores the profound belief that extending a helping hand to those in need is not merely a moral obligation but also a spiritual investment, promising divine blessings in return.

In the heart of this transformative movement stands Dr. Nelson Raju, the Steward of Lay Adventist Ministries, whose firm commitment to serving the underprivileged has sparked a wave of change across Tanuku, Nidadavole and Rajahmundry.

Since the year 2020, Dr. Nelson Raju and his team members, Malleswararao, Solomon Raju, Shekar Babu, Padmarao and sister Tabita have embarked on a noble mission to alleviate the suffering of the poor by providing them with basic necessities such as food and clothing. Their efforts have been conducted regularly in the towns of Tanuku, Nidadavolu, and Rajahmundry.

Over the span of four years, these selfless acts of kindness have touched the lives of countless individuals, with each donation event benefiting up to 200 people at a time.

Driven by a deep-seated desire to make a difference in the lives of the less fortunate, Dr. Raju draws inspiration from the teachings of scripture, particularly the Biblical adage that emphasizes the importance of showing mercy to those in need.

Speaking to War-Times, Dr. Nelson Raju shared his insights into the transformative power of mercy and compassion. “Since 2020, we have continuously provided food and clothing to the poor,” he remarked. “Our mission is fueled by a profound desire to alleviate the suffering of the impoverished, and we firmly believe that every act of kindness, no matter how small, is a sacred offering to the divine.”

Looking ahead, Dr. Raju and his team have set their sights on an ambitious new endeavor: adopting the impoverished individuals living at the dumping yard in the Tanuku area. By extending a lifeline to those who are often overlooked and marginalized, they hope to not only meet their immediate needs but also empower them to build better futures for themselves and their families.

Through their tireless efforts and unwavering dedication, Dr. Nelson Raju and Lay Adventist Ministries exemplify the transformative potential of mercy and compassion. By embodying these timeless values through tangible acts of kindness, they are not only transforming individual lives but also strengthening the social fabric of rural communities, fostering a sense of solidarity, hope, and resilience.
