Buggana criticizes AP budget, calls it “more graphics, less content”

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Tadepalli – Andhra Pradesh: Former Finance Minister and YSRCP leader Buggana Rajendranath Reddy has strongly criticized the 2025-26 Andhra Pradesh budget presented by Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, calling it high on visuals but low on substance. Addressing the media at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Friday, Buggana questioned the government’s claims and accused it of focusing excessively on the previous administration rather than addressing present challenges.

Alleges neglect of farmers and employees

Buggana pointed out that the Governor’s address did not mention the government’s “Super Six” initiatives even once. He claimed that farmers were suffering due to low prices, citing that chilli prices had dropped from Rs 21,000 to Rs 8,000 – Rs10,000 per quintal. He also alleged that employees who had faith in the coalition government were now facing worsening conditions.

Budget criticized as lacking structure

Mocking the budget presentation, Buggana said that it was “more color and less content.” He claimed that the document lacked a systematic structure and accused the ruling coalition government of prioritizing political blame over governance. He further alleged that the budget speech mentioned the previous YSRCP government 25 times and the term “destruction” 10 times, showing a continued fixation on the past.

“Stop making excuses, focus on governance”

He demanded that the ruling government stop blaming YSRCP and focus on delivering good governance. He reiterated that 6.31 lakh jobs were created during YSRCP’s tenure and questioned why the coalition government was still discussing the past after nearly a year in power.

Doubts over welfare promises and double engine governance

Buggana accused the government of failing to fulfill promises made in its election manifesto. He questioned whether investment assistance had reached farmers and criticized the government for announcing schemes without proper implementation. He also took a jibe at the coalition’s claim of “double engine governance”, stating that despite having the Centre’s support, the state was struggling with revenue deficits.

Calls for accountability and transparency

Buggana urged the government to prioritize people’s welfare over political rhetoric and ensure better governance instead of making unfulfilled promises.
