Chittoor – Andhra Pradesh: On the 68th death anniversary of Dr. B R Ambedkar, leaders and activists from various SC/ST organizations and the Republic Party of India (BA) gathered at Dargah Chowk in Chittoor city to honour the architect of the Indian Constitution. The event underscored Ambedkar’s contributions to equality, justice, and the upliftment of marginalized communities.
Ambedkar: A beacon of equality and justice for all
Varadarajulu, MRPS General Secretary, highlighted Ambedkar’s monumental role in shaping the Constitution, which enshrines freedom and equality for all. “Babasaheb ensured reservations for SC/ST, BC, minorities, and weaker sections, providing them with avenues to progress. His legacy inspires us to celebrate his contributions every year,” he said.
The Constitution: A living testament to Ambedkar’s vision
Srirangapally Munuswamy, General Secretary of the All India SC/ST United Forum, emphasized the enduring relevance of Ambedkar’s work. “The Constitution, written by Ambedkar, guarantees equal rights to all communities. It is our collective duty to uphold and act in its spirit,” he said, urging respect for its principles.
Ambedkar’s writings: Solutions for Dalit empowerment
Parthasarathy, President of the Republic Party of India, Chittoor District, stressed the importance of Ambedkar’s writings. “Dr. Ambedkar not only addressed caste discrimination but provided enduring solutions to challenges faced by Dalits. Reading his works is essential for understanding his vision,” he said.
Ambedkar: The leader of all Indians
V Rajakumar, Member of the SC/ST District Vigilance Monitoring Committee, called Ambedkar a leader for all Indians. “Through the Constitution, Ambedkar ensured equality for everyone, making it the backbone of our nation. We must follow his ideals and work towards his aspirations,” he added.
Call for action against social evils
The event also addressed pressing issues faced by marginalized communities. Leaders urged strict measures against atrocities, including attacks and crop looting in the district. Joint Collector Vidyadari assured leaders, stating, “We will conduct thorough investigations and take stringent action against those responsible for such acts.”
A collective responsibility to uphold Ambedkar’s values
The gathering concluded with a call to align governance with constitutional principles. “It is not enough to garland Ambedkar’s statue; governments and officials must act in accordance with his values,” K Danunjaya Rao, President of Dalit Praja Vedika asserted.
The meeting witnessed active participation from various Dalit organizations, including leaders Vijayabhaskar, Ramesh, Bullet Babu, KK Ravi, Murageshan, Palraj, Vijayagouri, and KVPS leader Surendra, reflecting a unified commitment to Ambedkar’s vision of an egalitarian society.
