Minister Kandula Durgesh urges preservation of Telugu language and culture

Thane – Maharashtra: Minister of Tourism, Culture, and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh emphasized the importance of preserving the Telugu language and cultural heritage during the Telugu Mahasabha, an annual event organized by the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra. The event, held at the Dr. Kashinath Ghanekar AC Auditorium in Thane on Sunday, brought together Telugu-speaking communities from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana who have settled in Maharashtra.
Unity for Telugu language and culture
Minister Kandula Durgesh, the chief guest at the event, expressed his joy in participating in a gathering that showcased the strength and unity of Telugu people outside their home states. He praised the efforts of the Telugu community in Maharashtra for their determination to preserve and promote the Telugu language and culture. “It is happy to see all of you, who have come here for business and employment, working together to protect our language and cultural traditions. Wherever we are, we must not forget the sweetness and richness of our Telugu heritage,” Durgesh said.
Significance of the Telugu Mahasabha
The Telugu Mahasabha, organized annually by the Federation of Telugu Associations of Maharashtra, serves as a platform for Telugu-speaking people in the state to come together, celebrate their cultural roots, and pass on the importance of their mother tongue to future generations. The event featured traditional cultural performances, including Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam, showcasing the vibrant Telugu culture.
Support from Andhra Pradesh Government
Minister Durgesh highlighted the commitment of the Andhra Pradesh alliance government, led by CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy CM Konidela Pawan Kalyan, in promoting and supporting the Telugu language. He assured that the government would extend its full support to Telugu people, whether through cultural initiatives or economic opportunities. “The alliance government in Andhra Pradesh is dedicated to the development of the Telugu language, and we are here to provide the necessary support to our community, no matter where they are,” he stated.
Recognition and honours
Prominent Telugu literary figure Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao, who was a special guest at the event, delivered a stirring address on the importance of strengthening Telugu culture. The event also saw the unveiling of the Telangana-Andhra Pradesh-Maharashtra Chamber of Commerce and Industry banner, symbolizing the unity and collaboration between Telugu-speaking states and Maharashtra.
Minister Durgesh and Jonnavittula Ramalingeswara Rao were honored by the Federation of Telugu Associations for their contributions to the promotion of Telugu language and culture.
The event was attended by a large number of Telugu people, who gathered to celebrate their shared heritage and reaffirm their commitment to preserving the Telugu language and culture. Minister Durgesh thanked the organizers, particularly PV Ramana and Ganji Jagan Babu, for their efforts in bringing the Telugu community together and ensuring the success of the Telugu Mahasabha. “It is not just about attending Telugu meetings in our home states; it is a great privilege to participate in such events in other states, where our language and culture continue to thrive,” Durgesh concluded.
