Telangana:- In a move to prioritize the well-being and academic success of college students, leaders of the Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi (VCK) party met with Hanmakonda District Collector Pravinya on Thursday, submitting a memorandum to establish a lunch program for students at Government Junior and Degree Colleges.

State Secretary Koyada Kiran Kumar and Warangal Joint District Incharge Ambala Anil Kumar emphasized the importance of nutritional support for college students, drawing inspiration from Tamil Nadu’s successful mid-day meal scheme for school children. The state’s initiative has shown a positive impact on student health, attendance, and academic performance.

If implemented, the program would not only support students’ physical well-being but also enhance their educational experience, leading to improved academic performance and reduced dropout rates. Additionally, providing lunch to college students would boost their energy and focus, enabling them to engage more effectively in classroom activities, foster a sense of community and socialization, and support low-income students who may struggle to access nutritious meals, Ambala Anil Kumar explained.

The District Collector assured the VCK representatives that she would bring the matter to the government’s attention, paving the way for a potential initiative that could have a positive impact on the lives of college students in the state.
