INSIGHT Organizes Menstrual Hygiene Awareness Programme in Hazaribagh
Awareness and Community Service Initiative Held in Algadih on World Menstrual Hygiene Day

Algadih, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand: On the occasion of World Menstrual Hygiene Day, social organization Indian Socio Income and Grievance Helping Trust (INSIGHT) organized a special awareness and community service programme in Algadih, Hazaribagh, Jharkhand. The programme aimed to promote awareness about menstrual hygiene among women and adolescent girls while addressing social stigma, myths and misconceptions associated with menstruation.
Promoting Menstrual Hygiene and Health Awareness
World Menstrual Hygiene Day is observed every year on May 28 to promote awareness about menstrual health, hygiene and safe menstrual management. Keeping this objective in mind, the INSIGHT team conducted an awareness campaign among members of the local community.
During the programme, women and adolescent girls were provided with information about the importance of maintaining proper hygiene during menstruation. Participants were encouraged to change sanitary pads regularly, maintain proper hand hygiene and dispose of used menstrual products safely.
Special emphasis was also placed on addressing common myths and misconceptions surrounding menstruation. The organizers encouraged open and informed conversations about menstrual health so that women and girls can manage their periods safely and with dignity.
Cool Sharbat and Fresh Watermelon Distributed
Considering the intense summer heat, INSIGHT also organized the distribution of cool sharbat and fresh watermelon for local women, children and other community members.
The service activity was intended to provide refreshments and relief from the heat while promoting a spirit of community support and social responsibility.
Participation of INSIGHT Office-Bearers and Community Members
The programme was conducted in the presence of General Secretary Mrs. Sarita Singh, Secretary Mr. Subhash Singh, and other members of the organization. The team actively participated in the awareness and service activities and worked to communicate important health and hygiene messages to the local community.
A significant number of local women, adolescent girls, children and other residents participated in the programme.
Breaking the Silence Around Menstruation
Addressing the gathering, representatives of INSIGHT emphasized that menstruation is a normal and natural biological process and should not be treated as a subject of shame or stigma.
They highlighted the importance of accurate information and open communication in improving women’s health, dignity and well-being. According to the organizers, awareness initiatives are particularly important in rural and semi-urban communities where access to reliable information and menstrual health resources may be limited.
Community Appreciation
Local residents appreciated the initiative and said that awareness programmes focusing on women’s health can contribute to positive social change. Participants particularly welcomed the effort to combine menstrual hygiene education with a community service activity during the summer.
INSIGHT representatives stated that the organization intends to continue conducting similar awareness and service programmes for women, children and underserved communities in the future.
