Yashwant Ambedkar invited to Buddhist Meet on caste issues

Vijayawada: Yashwant Rao Bhimrao Ambedkar, grandson of Dr. B R Ambedkar and National President of the Republican Party of India (RPI), was invited to address a major upcoming Buddhist public meeting in Tamil Nadu, focused on rising caste-based violence and the demand to free Bodh Gaya’s Mahabodhi Vihar from Brahmin control.

At a meeting held at the Novotel Hotel in Vijayawada, Thiruthani Thirunavukkarasu, President of Tamil Nadu’s Dalit People’s Front, formally invited Yashwant Ambedkar to attend and address a large-scale Buddhist public gathering planned in Tamil Nadu. The event aims to highlight increasing caste-based atrocities in the state and rally support for the Buddhist movement.
Call to liberate Mahabodhi Vihar
During the interaction, Thirunavukkarasu emphasized the need to liberate the Mahabodhi Vihar in Bodh Gaya, Bihar, from Brahmin dominance and restore its spiritual autonomy to Buddhist followers. Ambedkar acknowledged the concerns and expressed support for the movement, stating that the event’s date and venue will be finalized soon after consulting with the core committee.
RPI and Buddhist leaders join in support
The meeting was attended by several Republican Party of India (RPI) leaders and Buddhist monks from Andhra Pradesh. RPI Chittoor District President Parthasarathy, Nagari RPI leaders, and members of the Satravada Buddhist Vihar including Sandeep and Umapati, participated in the discussions.

Yashwant Ambedkar was honoured during the program by Major Chandrakant, Captain Praveen Nikade, and other party functionaries for his continuing efforts to carry forward the legacy of Dr. B R Ambedkar through political, social, and spiritual advocacy.
