Shocking Goa Liquor Smuggling Bust in Proddatur: 480 Bottles Seized, 2 Arrested

Kadapa-Andhra Pradesh : In a major enforcement action during routine inspections, Excise police seized Goa-made liquor worth approximately ₹1.60 lakh that was allegedly being transported illegally in Proddatur. Acting under the supervision of Proddatur Excise Circle Inspector Surendra Reddy, officials intercepted two cars at YSR Circle on the Jammalamadugu Road and confiscated 480 liquor bottles. Two persons from Anantapur district were arrested in connection with the case.
Excise officials intercept illegal liquor transportation
The seizure was made during routine vehicle inspections conducted by the Excise Department in Proddatur.
According to officials, the liquor consignment was being transported illegally in two cars when Excise personnel intercepted the vehicles near YSR Circle on the Jammalamadugu Road. The operation was carried out under the supervision of Proddatur Excise CI Surendra Reddy.

480 Goa liquor bottles confiscated
During the inspection, Excise officials reportedly recovered and seized 480 bottles of Goa-made liquor, along with the two vehicles allegedly used for transportation. The total value of the seized liquor was estimated at around ₹1.60 lakh. Officials suspect the liquor was being transported unlawfully for illegal distribution or sale.
Two persons arrested
Excise police arrested two individuals identified as Pamidi Akula Irfan, and Nandindla Basha, both reportedly residents of the Tapovanam area in Anantapur district.
Authorities stated that the accused were taken into custody in connection with the illegal transportation of liquor bottles.
Investigation underway
Excise officials said further investigation is underway to determine the source of the liquor, the intended destination, and whether a larger smuggling network is involved.
