Editorial

Kumardhubi, Dhanbad:-In an effort to strengthen financial literacy and promote inclusive economic participation, Dhanshristi Bhavishya Nidhi Trust organized a Financial Inclusion Awareness Program in Kumardhubi, Dhanbad, in April 2025. The initiative focused on educating local residents about the importance of formal banking systems, savings habits, digital transactions, and government welfare schemes.
Financial inclusion remains one of the most important aspects of sustainable economic growth, particularly in semi-urban areas like Kumardhubi. Despite the expansion of banking services across India, many individuals still lack proper knowledge about safe investment options, digital payments, and formal credit systems. Recognizing this gap, Dhanshristi Bhavishya Nidhi Trust designed the program to provide practical financial education in a simple and accessible format.
The event witnessed active participation from local residents, small traders, self-help group members, and youth. Around 30 participants attended the session, showing keen interest in understanding banking services and financial safety. The training sessions were conducted in an interactive manner to ensure that even first-time learners could grasp the concepts easily.
During the program, experts highlighted the importance of opening and actively using bank accounts. Participants were informed that financial inclusion goes beyond simply having a bank account—it involves regularly saving money, using digital payment methods responsibly, and accessing government-supported financial services. The speakers explained how formal banking systems provide security and transparency compared to informal money lending practices.
A major portion of the session focused on digital financial awareness. With the increasing use of mobile banking and online transactions, participants were educated about safe digital practices. Trainers demonstrated how to identify fraudulent calls and messages, avoid phishing scams, protect ATM PINs, and verify legitimate financial institutions before investing. Real-life examples were shared to help participants understand common financial fraud tactics.
The Trust also provided detailed information about various government schemes aimed at financial empowerment. These included savings schemes, insurance programs, pension plans, and other welfare initiatives designed to support economically weaker sections. Participants were encouraged to take advantage of these schemes to build long-term financial stability for their families.
An open question-and-answer session allowed attendees to raise their concerns regarding loans, documentation processes, interest rates, and repayment systems. Many participants admitted that they previously relied on informal borrowing methods due to lack of awareness. Experts advised them to approach authorized banks and verified financial institutions to avoid exploitation.
Educational reading materials were distributed among participants to reinforce the key points discussed during the session. These materials included basic financial terms, savings techniques, digital safety guidelines, and helpline contacts for grievance redressal. The objective was to ensure that participants could continue learning even after the program concluded.
To create a comfortable and welcoming environment, organizers also arranged refreshments for the attendees. A one-time meal and snacks were provided, encouraging participants to stay engaged throughout the session. Community members appreciated the initiative and expressed gratitude for the practical knowledge shared during the event.
Speaking at the program, representatives of Dhanshristi Bhavishya Nidhi Trust stated that financial literacy is essential for reducing poverty and promoting economic independence. They emphasized that informed financial decisions can prevent debt traps, reduce financial fraud, and improve overall household stability.
Participants gave positive feedback after the session. Several attendees shared that they now feel more confident about using digital payment platforms and understanding government schemes. Others mentioned that the program helped them realize the risks associated with unregistered investment schemes.
The April Financial Inclusion Program in Kumardhubi reflects Dhanshristi Bhavishya Nidhi Trust’s commitment to community empowerment and economic awareness. The organization has indicated plans to conduct similar awareness drives in other parts of Dhanbad district to reach a wider audience.
As financial systems continue to evolve rapidly, grassroots awareness initiatives like this play a crucial role in ensuring that every individual has access to safe and reliable financial services. Through education, engagement, and community support, Dhanshristi Bhavishya Nidhi Trust is contributing to building a more financially informed and secure society.
