WEST BENGAL GETS INDIA’S FIRST VANDE BHARAT SLEEPER TRAIN

Kolkata: West Bengal is set to add another feather to the crown of its rail infrastructure with the introduction of the country’s first-ever Vande Bharat Sleeper Train. This new Vande Bharat Sleeper not only connecting Southern Part with Northern Part of West Bengal but also connecting the adjacent state Assam strengthening inter-state high speed train connectivity, thereby reducing journey time to a considerable extent.

Indigenously built with state-of-the-art technology under the Make in India initiative, the Vande Bharat Sleeper Train is designed to offer a smooth and vibration-free overnight journey, ensuring enhanced comfort and convenience for passengers. With fares lower than air travel, the train provides a time-saving and cost-effective premium travel option for long-distance passengers.

The train will connect major districts of West Bengal, including Howrah, Hooghly, Purba Bardhaman, Murshidabad, Malda, Jalpaiguri, and Cooch Behar, and will also serve Bongaigaon and Kamrup Metropolitan districts of Assam. This improved connectivity is expected to boost tourism, trade and economic activities, while facilitating easier movement for the travellers. The Vande Bharat Sleeper Train represents a new benchmark in modern rail travel, combining speed, safety, and comfort.
