JERUSALEM: The historic American Colony Hotel in Jerusalem has once again earned the title of Israel’s Leading Boutique Hotel for 2025, as recognized by the prestigious World Travel Awards. This marks the ninth time the iconic property has received the honor.
Founded in 1993, the World Travel Awards are often regarded as the global benchmark for excellence in the travel and tourism industry. Each year, more than 650,000 travel professionals and consumers worldwide cast their votes to determine the leading hotels and destinations. The American Colony first won the award in 2013, followed by consecutive wins in 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021, and now again in 2025.

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Alex Nassar, General Manager of The American Colony Hotel, said,
“We are truly honored to be named Israel’s Leading Boutique Hotel for 2025. This recognition, often called the ‘Oscars’ of global tourism, inspires us to continue delivering excellence. Over the past year, we completed a significant renovation to elevate our guests’ experience, and we remain devoted to preserving the hotel’s timeless charm and exceptional standards of service. We warmly invite guests from around the world to enjoy our renowned hospitality and culinary offerings.”
Built in 1860 as the palace of an Ottoman pasha and his four wives, the 160-year-old landmark blends Middle Eastern architecture with European elegance. Its Arabesque arches, hand-painted ceilings, antique furnishings, and lush gardens evoke a tranquil atmosphere that embodies a seamless fusion of East and West.
The property includes four historic buildings surrounded by verdant courtyards and ancient fountains, housing 85 uniquely designed rooms across seven categories. Each room is distinct, featuring high ceilings, painted wooden beams, and elegant oriental details. The recent renovation saw the refurbishment of 41 rooms and bathrooms, along with new private balconies in select suites.
Renowned for its understated luxury and refined service, The American Colony has long been a haven for diplomats, journalists, and artists. Over the decades, it has hosted an illustrious list of guests, including Sting, Richard Gere, Jane Fonda, Bob Dylan, Robert De Niro, Giorgio Armani, Natalie Portman, Oliver Stone, Winston Churchill, Marc Chagall, Leonard Bernstein, Vanessa Redgrave, Jimmy Carter, Mikhail Gorbachev, and Lawrence of Arabia, among many others.
With its blend of history, elegance, and hospitality, The American Colony Hotel continues to stand as a symbol of Jerusalem’s enduring charm and global prestige.
