Devarakona’s untapped beauty deserves tourism status

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy has called upon the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department to recognize and develop Devarakona, a hidden natural gem located in Nandi Mandal of Pendlimari Mandal, as a tourist destination. He made this appeal while visiting the site along with friends on the occasion of Diwali.

A hidden paradise in Rayalaseema’s forests

Ravi Shankar Reddy described Devarakona as one of the most beautiful yet least-known natural spots in the Palakonda forest range. “We are wandering around unable to recognize such beautiful waterfalls flowing between high hills in the middle of a dense forest in our own region,” he said.

He lamented that despite its breathtaking waterfalls and scenic landscape, Devarakona remains unknown even to locals. “The people of this area have not even known about the existence of a place called Devarakona. Its natural beauty spreads immense joy and peace — it must be showcased to the world,” he added.

Appeal for tourism development

The Rayalaseema Communist Party leader urged the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Department to include Devarakona in the state’s tourism circuit. He emphasized the need for installing signboards, improving road connectivity, and providing transport facilities to attract tourists from across the state. “If proper infrastructure is provided, Devarakona will become a major tourist attraction in Rayalaseema, drawing people from all over the region,” he said.

Locals join the initiative

Several local residents and party members accompanied Ravi Shankar Reddy on the visit, including Kondareddy, Gafoor, Sikindar, Raju, Ramana Reddy, Madagalam Prasad, Tasleem, Lakshmi Devi, Pratap Reddy, Muni Reddy, Pawan, and Manohar. They echoed his appeal to the government to promote eco-tourism and create livelihood opportunities for villagers through sustainable development.
