Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy has demanded immediate justice for Dalit families of old Kadapa who have been struggling for years to reclaim their rightful agricultural land. Speaking during a grievance program at the Collector’s office on Monday, he criticized officials for neglecting the issue despite repeated appeals.
Dalit land allotment ignored for years
Ravi Shankar Reddy said that during the tenure of the then Congress government under YS Rajasekhar Reddy, agricultural land measuring 55 cents per person was allotted to seven Dalit beneficiaries in old Kadapa. The lands were officially issued with patta, passbook, and Adangal seals, confirming ownership.
He noted that although the documents remain valid and the beneficiaries continue to receive farmer assurance benefits, they have been denied access to their own land for years due to administrative inaction.
Repeated appeals yield no response
The RCP leader stated that the affected Dalits had approached village secretariats, revenue officials, and state authorities, explaining the injustice multiple times. However, he alleged that no meaningful action had been taken to restore their possession or protect their rights.
Demand for revenue action and warning of protest
Ravi Shankar Reddy urged revenue officials to take special initiative to resolve the issue and ensure the Dalits regain their land. He warned that if the administration fails to act promptly, the party and affected families would launch a relay hunger strike at the Collector’s office.
Participation of affected families
Several Dalit residents of old Kadapa participated in the grievance program, reiterating their demand for justice and support from the district administration to reclaim their long-denied land rights.
