RCP seeks modern ticketing system to curb RTC chaos

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) City Committee Member Madagalam Prasad has urged the Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) to adopt modern ticketing policies to end decades-old practices that continue to inconvenience passengers.
Outdated system still in place
Prasad criticized the RTC for persisting with practices unchanged for 30–40 years. “In earlier days, people threw towels and bags from windows to reserve seats. Sadly, the same situation exists today, with passengers still fighting for seats at bus porches and windows,” he said.
Call for numbered ticketing at counters
Drawing parallels with airlines, railways, and even cinema halls, Prasad suggested that RTC should issue tickets with seat numbers directly at bus stand counters. He said this system would ensure passengers board in an orderly manner, preventing chaos.
Appeal for passenger decency
He further appealed to commuters to maintain discipline while boarding buses. Pushing at entrances makes travel difficult for the elderly, disabled, pregnant women, mothers with infants, and women in general, he noted. Passengers should avoid placing bags and scarves on seats to reserve them and instead sit in rows once the bus arrives.
RCP leaders, including Vijay Kumar Venkatesh, were present at the media conference held on Tuesday.
