Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: A widow from Janikipet, Amalapuram, has accused her in-laws of harassment, threats, and preventing her and her minor son from entering her late husband’s house. She alleged that despite filing a police complaint, no justice has been delivered so far. On Tuesday, she submitted a detailed petition to the RDO seeking justice.
Widow prevented from entering home
Naundru Meenakshi, married to the late Naundru Jagadish Kumar, said she was barred from entering her marital home on September 1, 2025, when she returned with her son after recovering from illness. She alleged that her brothers-in-law, mother-in-law, and other relatives abused her, denied water to her child, and forced her to remain outside the house until late night.
Allegations of abuse and threats
According to Meenakshi, her brother-in-law Rajesh allegedly followed her, filming her movements to humiliate and harass her. She further alleged that relatives Rajesh, Ramesh, Ravi Teja, and Naresh threatened to kill her son, while her mother-in-law spread false rumors and filed fabricated cases against her.
Police complaint yet to bring relief
Meenakshi said she approached Amalapuram Town Police Station late at night, but was asked to return the next morning. When she went again, police cited bandobust duties for Vinayaka Chavithi as the reason for delay. Despite mediation attempts, she said no action has been taken, and her husband’s family has even erected iron grills to block her entry into the property.
Union extends Solidarity
The KVPS, Agricultural Workers’ Union expressed solidarity with Meenakshi. KVPS District Convener Chettbatthula Thulasi Rao and State Vice President of the Agricultural Workers’ Union, Kaarem Venkateswara Rao, assured support and vowed to fight until justice is secured for the widow and her child.
