CPM demands probe into fake birth, death certificates scam

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: Allegations of fake birth and death certificates being issued illegally by Amalapuram Municipality staff have sparked serious concern, with the CPM demanding a full-scale investigation and strict action against those responsible.
Irregularities surface in council meeting
The issue came to light during the recent municipal council meeting, where complaints were raised about staff allegedly collecting money to issue fake certificates.
Dr. B R Ambedkar Konaseema District Convener Kaarem Venkateswara Rao urged the government to conduct a thorough probe, warning that the scam undermines the credibility of public records and affects genuine applicants.

Strong network behind scam
At a meeting held at the CPM district office in Gollagudem, Venkateswara Rao and District Committee Member G Durga Prasad alleged that a long-standing network of municipal staff has enabled fake certificates to circulate undetected for years.
The leaders lamented that people who are genuinely eligible for government schemes and benefits face hardships due to fraudulent certificates being issued in large numbers.
