Leaders demand action over encroachment and destruction of mango trees

By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Palamaneru – Andhra Pradesh: Bahujan Samaj Party, Dalit Mahasabha, and Mala Mahanadu have demanded that police register an SC/ST Atrocity case against Subbaraju, accused of trespassing on Dalit farmer Pesala Eswaraiah’s land in Annamayya district and cutting down five acres of mango trees.

Allegations of encroachment and destruction

According to the complainant, Subbaraju, an upper-caste man from the same region, initially worked as a labourer watering Eswaraiah’s mango orchard on daily wages. However, he allegedly trespassed into the land with a group of men and destroyed mango trees spread over five acres.

Dalit organizations alleged that despite lacking ownership documents, Subbaraju is exploiting caste privilege to intimidate Eswaraiah, who holds a passbook and B-Adangal cultivation records proving his rightful possession of the land.

Call for SC/ST Atrocity case and arrest

BSP, Dalit Mahasabha, and Mala Mahanadu leaders demanded immediate registration of an SC/ST Prevention of Atrocities case against Subbaraju, followed by his arrest and judicial remand.

Appeal to district authorities and Chief Minister

The organizations urged the Annamayya district SP and Collector to stand by Eswaraiah’s family and ensure their safety. They also appealed to Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to enforce the Justice Punnaiah Commission Act and direct officials to take strict action.

BSP leaders Shivadi Govindayah and Kathi Srinivasulu, along with AP Dalit Mahasabha leaders M Koteswaraiah and Shiva Kumar, condemned the incident, stating that both police and revenue departments must support Eswaraiah’s family and deliver justice without delay.
