Andhra Pradesh: The Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) has urged the state government to introduce town service buses in Kadapa city, citing population growth, transport needs, and rising safety concerns.*
RCP highlights transport gap in growing city
At a press conference held at the RCP office on Saturday, RCP leader Madagalam Prasad said it was “very sad” that Kadapa, despite its rapid development and population of over four lakh, still lacks town service buses. He stressed that such services are essential for education, employment, medical needs, and other daily requirements.
Safety concerns at bus stands
Quoting Transport Minister’s remarks, Prasad said thefts at the RTC bus stand and other stops are on the rise, with passengers losing phones, gold ornaments, wallets, and money. He demanded that CCTV cameras be installed inside and outside buses to prevent such crimes.
Crowding worsened by free travel scheme
Prasad pointed out that buses are already overcrowded and the introduction of free travel for women has intensified the congestion. He called on authorities to regulate travel according to seat limits for passenger safety and convenience.
Chaotic boarding practices criticized
“Even today, passengers are rushing for seats as if competing in the Olympics,” Prasad remarked, criticizing the undisciplined boarding system. He urged officials to introduce number-wise ticketing at booking counters to ensure orderly travel.
Local leaders Ravi, Vijayakumar, Munireddy, Pratap Reddy, and Ramyanaidu also took part in the program, extending support to the demand for improved city transport.
