Bhilai – Chattisgarh: In a moving act of compassion and service, Saint Thomas Church (STC) of the Church of Northern India in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh Diocese, organized a blood donation camp on Good Friday to embody the message of Christ’s sacrificial love.
Spreading love through action
The blood donation camp was held under the supervision of Pastor J Stanley Victor, with members of the congregation, including women and youth, donating blood at the Durg District Hospital. This act was part of a broader message to commemorate the ultimate sacrifice of Jesus Christ during the Holy Week.
Love in deed, not just in word
Speaking on the occasion, Pastor Stanley Victor said, “No one has greater love than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends. Jesus is the perfect embodiment of divine love. As His followers, we are called to reflect that love—not only in words but in action. Good Friday and Easter give us a sacred opportunity to express God’s love for humanity in tangible ways.

Holy Passion Week observances
The church observed the Holy Passion Week with various Christian cultural and spiritual activities from Palm Sunday to Easter Sunday.
On Palm Sunday, church members took part in an open rally, singing hymns and raising slogans proclaiming God’s love through Jesus Christ. Children performed a skit depicting scenes from Christ’s final days. As part of Lent, each family in the church conducted prayers, remembering Jesus’ journey to the cross. Bread was shared in remembrance of the Last Supper, symbolizing Christ’s body given for mankind.

Acts of compassion and contribution
Mahila Sabha, the women’s fellowship of the church, donated a new almirah for church use.
On Good Friday, cool sharbat was served to passersby as a gesture of kindness and outreach.
