Unions protest against harassment of drivers at Amalapuram Depot

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: Members of the National Mazdoor Union and the United Workers Union staged a protest at the Amalapuram depot on Saturday, demanding an end to the alleged harassment of drivers by the depot manager. The unions also called for the revocation of an illegal suspension and better working conditions.
Unions protest over driver harassment
Workers gathered in large numbers for a gate meeting organized by the National Mazdoor Union and the United Workers Union. The protest was held in front of the Amalapuram depot, where slogans were raised against the management’s alleged mistreatment of drivers.
Demands for justice
The unions demanded that driver KG Rao not be forced into team duties and called for the immediate revocation of what they termed the illegal suspension of driver BS Narayana.

Allegations of discrimination
United Workers Union District Secretary V Ganapathi Rao criticized the depot manager and CI, questioning how such actions could be justified when the state’s Chief Minister, Nara Chandrababu Naidu, has emphasized humane treatment of employees.
Call for better facilities
National Mazdoor Depot Secretary P Mani Raju highlighted additional concerns, urging the administration to improve working conditions, provide clean drinking water, and upgrade rest room facilities at the depot.
Workers pledge to continue protests
Union leaders vowed to continue the agitation until the depot management addresses their demands and puts an end to discriminatory practices. The protest saw active participation from a large number of workers.
