Chicago delegation seeks AP collaboration for handloom expos in America

Amaravati: Chicago representatives met AP Minister S Savita to discuss marketing opportunities for handloom textiles in the U.S. and invited her to a global expo at Purdue University.
A delegation from the (US) State of Chicago met Andhra Pradesh BC, EWS Welfare, Handloom, and Textile Minister S Savita on Monday. The representatives extended an invitation to her for the upcoming GSA Global Millets Expo, scheduled for April at Purdue University in Chicago.
Plan to promote AP handloom in the US
Chicago Government Representative LaShawn K. Ford formally handed over the invitation to Minister Savita. The delegation discussed the potential for handloom expos across multiple (US) states, aiming to expand market opportunities for Andhra Pradesh’s handloom sector.
Weaver training and collaboration with Purdue University
The Chicago representatives assured their support in training AP handloom weavers in new textile design techniques under the guidance of Purdue University. They emphasized their commitment to strengthening international collaboration in the handloom sector.
Minister’s response and future steps
Minister Savita welcomed the initiative and stated that she would bring the proposal to the attention of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu and Minister Nara Lokesh for further deliberation. She also thanked the delegation for their willingness to support AP weavers.
The event was attended by Dr. Vijay Prabhakar, Dr. Rajiv, Dr. Mohammed Tajmul Hussain, Vishwa Bharati, K Krishnamurthy, Thirunagari Jyotsna, and other dignitaries.
