Hemant Soren to take oath as Jharkhand CM for fourth term

Ranchi: Hemant Soren is set to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Jharkhand for the fourth time on November 26. The swearing-in ceremony, to be held in Ranchi, is expected to see attendance from prominent leaders, including Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee, and other members of the INDIA alliance.
JMM-Congress alliance triumphs over BJP
The JMM-Congress alliance secured a decisive victory in the Jharkhand Assembly elections, retaining power and defying exit poll predictions. The alliance won 56 seats in the 81-member assembly, surpassing the 41-seat majority mark.
JMM seats: 34 out of 43 contested
Congress seats: 16
BJP performance: Limited to 21 seats despite contesting 68
Soren’s landslide victory
Hemant Soren emerged victorious in Barhet with a margin of over 39,000 votes, while his wife, Kalpana Soren, secured a win in Gande with a margin exceeding 13,000 votes.
Cabinet formation underway
Soren is currently finalizing his cabinet. Notably, four former ministers who lost in the elections are expected to be given key roles in the new government.
