Yemmiganur – Andhra Pradsh: All India Kisan Mazdur Sangh (AIKMS) District General Secretary M Satyanna led a protest on Monday in Ymmiganur, urging the central and state governments to take immediate action to lower the skyrocketing prices of essential commodities. A memorandum outlining their demands was submitted to Deputy Tehsildar Virendra following the dharna held in front of the Tehsildar’s office.
Essential commodity prices out of reach for common people
Satyanna criticized both the central and state governments for their failure to control the rising prices of essential goods. He noted that commodities like cooking oil, tomatoes, onions, and vegetables have become unaffordable for the common people, leading to severe hardship for poor and middle-class families.
Government priorities misaligned, corporate interests favoured
He accused the government of focusing on corporate concessions and neglecting the needs of ordinary citizens. Satyanna also alleged that the alliance government’s preoccupation with promoting liquor sales had distracted them from addressing the urgent issue of inflation.
Urgent call to reduce prices for the welfare of all
Satyanna demanded that the government act swiftly to reduce the prices of essential goods, making them accessible to all. He stressed that without immediate intervention, the poor and middle-class would face increased financial pressure, which could lead to widespread distress.
Widespread support for the cause
The protest was supported by several local leaders, including IFTU District leaders S Balaraju and Babu, and AIKMS division leaders Peddaguntappa, Chandrasekhar, Ayyappa, Umapati, Veeranjaneyulu, Reju, Ellappa, Ramudu, Jayaraju, Mallesh, Bajari and others, all rallying for the welfare of the people impacted by rising prices.
