Andhra Pradesh: Nature Lovers Association of Chittoor has been at the forefront of environmental conservation efforts for over 14 years, promoting awareness and action to safeguard the region’s natural resources. With campaigns like “Car Free Day” and “Rivers Day,” they continue to engage the public in protecting the environment and restoring Chittoor’s once-pristine Neeva River.

Celebrating car free day for a greener future

Nature Lovers Association President Murali emphasized the significance of the recent Car Free Day celebration in collaboration with the Chittoor Cyclists Association. He stated that cycling is not only beneficial for personal health but also a practical step toward reducing air pollution. He urged people to minimize the use of motor vehicles to make the world carbon-free.

Neeva river restoration: A call for action

Murali expressed concern about the condition of the Neeva River, once known as the Chittoor Ganga. Due to the irresponsible dumping of plastic waste, the river has turned into a polluted canal, threatening the environment and local water supply. He called on the people of Chittoor to refrain from polluting the river and join efforts to restore its former glory.

Environmental neglect leading to water shortages

Murali warned that neglecting rivers like Neeva is directly contributing to drinking water shortages and flooding in the region. He emphasized that only by safeguarding nature can the well-being of all people be ensured, aligning with the philosophy of ‘Sarvajano Sukhinobavanthu.’
