Awareness Campaign Highlights the Dangers of Child Trafficking and Promotes Child Safety, Rights and Safe Migration

Dhanbad, Area Correspondent: Indian Socio Income and Grievance Helping Trust (INSIGHT) organized a Child Trafficking Awareness Programme in Dhanbad, Jharkhand, on 1 June 2026. The initiative focused on raising awareness among children, parents, guardians, teachers and community members about the risks associated with child trafficking, exploitation, unsafe migration and deceptive recruitment.

Raising Awareness About Child Trafficking

The primary objective of the programme was to help communities understand the dangers of child trafficking and exploitation and to encourage timely action when children may be at risk.

The awareness sessions focused on identifying potential risks, understanding children’s rights and recognizing deceptive recruitment practices that may place children in vulnerable situations.

Special attention was also given to the importance of safe migration and responsible reporting, particularly for families and communities that may face misleading employment or migration offers.

Key Activities

The programme included several community-focused activities, including:

  • Awareness sessions on the prevention of child trafficking and exploitation.
  • Child-safety awareness activities for children and young people.
  • Distribution of educational leaflets and child-protection materials.
  • Interaction with parents, guardians and community members.
  • Awareness sessions on safe migration and child rights.
  • Guidance on responsible reporting and referral mechanisms.
  • Volunteer-led community outreach and support.

Promoting Child Safety and Community Responsibility

INSIGHT representatives emphasized that protecting children requires cooperation among families, schools, communities, civil society organizations and responsible authorities.

Children were encouraged to remain cautious about unfamiliar individuals, suspicious offers and situations that could place them at risk. Parents and guardians were also encouraged to remain attentive to children’s movements, education, safety and interactions with unknown persons.

The programme highlighted that awareness is an important first step in preventing trafficking and exploitation. Communities that understand warning signs and know where to seek help are better positioned to respond to potential risks.

Building a Safer Community for Children

Through this initiative, INSIGHT sought to strengthen community awareness and promote a culture in which children’s safety, dignity and rights are treated as a shared responsibility.

The organization stated that it will continue working on awareness and social protection initiatives aimed at supporting children, women, elderly people and other vulnerable sections of society.

The Child Trafficking Awareness Programme in Dhanbad served as an effort to educate the community, encourage responsible action and reinforce the message that every child deserves safety, protection, dignity and the opportunity to grow in a secure environment.
