Handed While Accepting Bribe in Ramgarh, Jharkhand

Ranchi-New Delhi : In a significant anti-corruption operation, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has apprehended the Chief Store Keeper of the Regional Store, Saunda, Barka Sayal Area of Central Coalfields Limited (CCL), Ramgarh, Jharkhand, for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe from a security guard.

According to CBI officials, a case was registered on June 21, 2026, following a complaint alleging that the accused had demanded an undue advantage of ₹10,000 from the complainant. The complainant, employed as a security guard, claimed that the official sought the bribe in exchange for allowing him to continue his duties by assigning him lighter work considering his medical condition.

Acting swiftly on the complaint, the CBI laid a carefully planned trap. During the operation, the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹10,000 from the complainant.

Following the arrest, CBI teams initiated searches at both the office and residential premises of the accused to gather further evidence related to the case. Officials said the searches are currently underway and additional incriminating documents or materials may be recovered during the process.

The case has once again highlighted concerns regarding corruption and abuse of official position within public sector organizations. Investigators are examining whether the accused was involved in similar activities in the past and whether any other individuals may have played a role in the alleged bribery network.

CBI officials reiterated their commitment to maintaining transparency and accountability in government institutions and public sector undertakings. The agency has been actively pursuing corruption-related complaints and encouraging citizens to report incidents of bribery and misconduct.

The arrested official is expected to be produced before the competent court after completion of necessary legal formalities. Further action will be taken based on the outcome of the ongoing investigation.

The CBI has stated that the investigation is continuing and more details are expected to emerge as the probe progresses.
