Proddatur – Andhra Pradesh: Employees working under Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Trust, many from Dalit and weaker sections, have raised concerns over job insecurity as the Andhra Pradesh government reportedly considers revamping its health insurance scheme. The proposed changes could potentially remove the Dr NTR Vaidya Seva Trust from overseeing health insurance, leaving thousands of field workers, some employed for up to 18 years, anxious about their livelihoods.

Workers seek job security in health sector
Vaidya Mitra field staff—including team leaders, office associates, and district managers—have been essential to the health insurance scheme since 2007. They said that with an average monthly salary of Rs 13,087, their positions represent the primary source of income for many families. Workers, who hold degrees in Nursing, Pharmacy, and other fields, expressed concerns that changes to the trust’s scope could lead to unemployment, significantly impacting their already precarious financial situations.
Calls for state government intervention
With rumours circulating about the scheme’s restructuring, employees have called on the state government to ensure that their job security remains intact. Ambedkar Sena State Convener Dappella Devadasu and other local leaders have urged the administration to address these workers’ “fair and just demands” and protect their livelihoods.
Extension sought for mega DCS training
In light of the government’s announcement regarding the Mega DSC program, they also requested an extension of the free training registration deadline, ensuring that all who have registered receive an equal opportunity for free training.

Memorandum submitted
Leaders from the Ambedkar Sena, including State Member NB Sagar and Mala Mahanadu President Y Raju, submitted a memorandum to the Tahsildar today, outlining demands and seeking swift action to address these concerns.
