RMS leader alleges heavy penalties and irregularities in Dwakra groups

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Mahila Sangham District Secretary Tasleem has alleged serious irregularities and excessive penalties being collected from Dwakra group members in Kadapa city.

Penalty of Rs 700 for one missed monthly due

Speaking to the media near the Venkateswara Swamy Temple on Thursday, Tasleem questioned how a one-month delay in a Rs 6300 Dwakra monthly due was resulting in a Rs 700 penalty. She demanded clarity on where these amounts are being accounted for.

Leaders accused of irregularities

She alleged that group leaders, CRPs and members were fixing different rates for monthly deposits and loans, and were collecting additional amounts under various names, violating norms and burdening poor members.

Interest charged four times higher than norms

Tasleem said that both the government and banks allow only Rs 2 per Rs 100 as interest. “On Rs 6300, only Rs 126 should be charged, but they are extracting four times that amount,” she criticised, calling it outright exploitation of poor women.

Complaint to be taken to officials

She said these irregularities would be brought to the notice of the Dwakra Project Director and the District Collector.

RCP leaders Madagalam Prasad, Venkatesh and Ravi were present.
