RCP marks 10 years, vows stronger movements for Rayalaseema development

Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: On the 10th founding day of the Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP), State Secretary Ravi Shankar Reddy said the organisation was formed solely to champion the development of Rayalaseema and has consistently worked toward that goal for the past decade. Addressing a media conference at the RCP office on Monday, he said the party will intensify large-scale public movements in the coming years.
‘Why has Rayalaseema been left behind?’
Ravi Shankar Reddy questioned why the region, known historically as a “great hillock,” continues to suffer from drought, backwardness, and chronic neglect despite several former Chief Ministers hailing from Rayalaseema. He asked why residents continue to migrate to neighbouring states and abroad for basic needs such as education, healthcare, and employment.
Leaders accused of repeating old mistakes
Criticising political leadership, he said power-hungry leaders “cut down the very branch they were sitting on,” contributing to the region’s stagnation. He recalled how people once united for the Vizag Steel Plant with the slogan “Visakha Steel is the right of Andhras”, but now those who raise the slogan “Kadapa Steel is the right of Rayalaseema” are left frustrated. He alleged that past and current governments are repeating the same developmental mistakes—pointing out how resources were once shifted to Hyderabad, and now, in the name of Amaravati, everything is being relocated again. “If this continues, one day Seema will be left only with graves,” he warned.
Call for a region-focused political force
Explaining the party’s formation, he said the RCP emerged from the pressing need for a political organisation dedicated entirely to Rayalaseema’s priorities. He expressed confidence that the party will gain wider public support and unite the people to hold governments accountable for the region’s progress.
RTU State Secretary Siddi Ramaiah, RCP City Secretary Maqbul Bhasha, and Executive Members Madagalam Prasad and Chapala Subbarayudu were present at the programme.
