Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Rayalaseema Communist Party (RCP) District Committee member Madagalam Prasad expressed concern over the growing number of attacks on bus drivers and conductors across the state, urging the government and passengers to act responsibly to ensure the safety and dignity of transport workers.
Attacks on drivers and conductors deplored
Speaking at his office on Thursday, Prasad said it was deeply inappropriate to target drivers and conductors who risk their lives daily to transport passengers safely. He noted that such attacks have increased since the coalition government introduced the free travel scheme, placing additional strain on public transport staff.
Call for more buses
Prasad urged the government to deploy new buses immediately, stating that overcrowding has become a serious problem. He said that as passenger numbers continue to rise, the lack of adequate buses has led to uncomfortable and unsafe travel conditions.
Appeal for passenger discipline
Prasad appealed to passengers to cooperate with transport staff by boarding and alighting only at designated bus stops. He advised passengers to avoid boarding through windows or reserving seats with towels and bags, calling for orderly and respectful behavior to ensure timely travel for all.
RCP to support transport workers
Assuring solidarity with bus staff, Prasad announced that the Rayalaseema Communist Party would stand by drivers and conductors and organize protests in support of their safety and welfare in the coming days.
