AIDWA Amalapuram meet pledges fight against harassment, addiction

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: Leaders of the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) in Dr. B R Ambedkar Konaseema district resolved to intensify campaigns against harassment of women and rising youth addiction to drugs and alcohol at a divisional meeting held Saturday at the UTF District Office.

Focus on women’s safety and rights

District In-charge Comrade D Adilakshmi said women continue to face harassment, domestic violence, and student exploitation. She reminded participants that AIDWA has been fighting against rape and harassment for years and stressed the need for stronger local-level action.

Concern over youth and addiction

The meeting highlighted rising drug, ganja, and alcohol addiction among youth. Adilakshmi said AIDWA would step up awareness programs to prevent young people from “ruining their lives” through substance abuse.

Broadening scope of struggles

Along with women’s safety, she emphasized the need to take up issues affecting employees, teachers, scheme workers, and working women across sectors.

Organizational strengthening

The meeting resolved to expand membership, form local committees, and organize district-level conferences to strengthen AIDWA’s presence in Konaseema district.

The session was chaired by Comrade R Sushila and attended by several leaders including G Deva Krupa, K Baby, Ganga Ratnam, B Esther Rani, Subbalakshmi, P Amulya, Haimavati, Uma, Satyavani, Manimala, Mariyamma, Tulasi, Gowri, Vijayalakshmi, and Purnima.
