Andhra Pradesh: Dr. Uppuleti Devi Prasad, President of the Republican Party of India (RPI) Andhra Pradesh unit, unveiled a statue of Dr. B R Ambedkar at Ghantasalapalem in Krishna district on Monday, urging people to uphold Ambedkar’s ideals and promote his legacy among younger generations.
Ambedkar’s legacy must be taught in schools
Speaking at the event, Dr. Devi Prasad emphasized the importance of introducing lessons on Dr. Ambedkar’s life and contributions in school curricula. “Children should learn about Ambedkar’s vision for social justice and equality. His message must reach future generations,” he said.
Tributes paid to Architect of Indian Constitution
Dr. Uppuleti paid rich tributes to Dr. Ambedkar, recalling his role in framing the Indian Constitution and building national institutions like the Reserve Bank of India and the Supreme Court. “Ambedkar was not just a Dalit icon; he laid the foundation for modern India and empowered the marginalized through constitutional rights,” he said.
Ambedkar opened doors of education to the marginalized
Highlighting the impact of caste-based discrimination in Indian history, Uppuleti noted that Dr. Ambedkar was the first to champion education for the oppressed classes. “He broke the barriers of caste in education and brought dignity to those historically denied learning,” Uppuleti said.
Ambedkar’s political legacy and RPI’s future plans
Dr. Devi Prasad also reminded the audience that Dr. Ambedkar founded the Republican Party of India and contested elections in Maharashtra. He announced that RPI will now actively contest the 2029 Assembly and Parliamentary elections in Andhra Pradesh. “We are here to carry forward Babasaheb’s political legacy. We ask for the people’s support in the next elections,” he declared.
