AP Rythu Sangham urges CM to fund pending T5 channel project
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Markapuram – Andhra Pradesh: Ahead of the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s visit to Markapuram on Saturday, AP Rythu Sangham General Secretary KVV Prasad has urged the government to allocate funds for the completion of the Thigeleru channel extension under the Pulalsubbaya Veligonda Project. The project, initiated in 2017 under GO No. 95 with an allocation of Rs 54.80 lakh, has remained stalled since 2019.
Project overview and potential benefits
In 2017, during the previous administration, the Thigeleru channel of T5 Block in the Yarragondapalem Constituency was extended to supply irrigation and drinking water to villages in Yarragondapalem, Pullalacheruvu, and Tripurantakam mandals. Upon completion, it is estimated to irrigate 8,000 acres in Yarragondapalem and 11,500 acres in Pullala Cheruvu mandal, providing much-needed agricultural and drinking water relief.
Despite its critical importance, the channel’s construction has been neglected by the government since 2019, leaving thousands of farmers struggling with inadequate irrigation facilities. The incomplete project has also led to concerns over drinking water shortages in the affected mandals.

Call for immediate action
With the Chief Minister’s visit to Markapuram on March 8, KVV Prasad has urged the government to re-sanction funds for the completion of the T5 channel and approve a full-scale survey. He emphasized that the delay has severely impacted agricultural productivity and the livelihoods of farmers in the region.
Farmers’ appeal to CM
The AP Rythu Sangham has called on the Chief Minister to take immediate action and announce the required funds for the project’s completion, ensuring that the promised benefits reach the affected communities.
