PM Modi inaugurates Rs 2 Lakh Cr projects in Andhra Pradesh

Visakhapatnam – Andhra Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi laid the foundation stone and inaugurated development projects worth over Rs 2 lakh crore in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, highlighting the state’s potential as a hub for innovation and industrial growth.
Honoring Andhra Pradesh’s growth and opportunities
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, during his first official visit to Andhra Pradesh post-formation of the government, emphasized the state’s immense possibilities and opportunities. He noted that Andhra Pradesh aims to become a $2.5 trillion economy by 2047 under the ‘Swarna Andhra@2047’ initiative spearheaded by Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu.
Modi acknowledged Naidu’s vision and expressed confidence in achieving the state’s goals with collective efforts. He thanked the people for the grand welcome during his roadshow and reiterated the Union government’s commitment to Andhra Pradesh’s development.
Focus on green hydrogen and future technologies
Modi announced the establishment of a green hydrogen hub in Visakhapatnam as part of the National Green Hydrogen Mission. With a target of producing 5 million metric tonnes of green hydrogen by 2030, Visakhapatnam will become one of the world’s few cities with large-scale green hydrogen production facilities, creating jobs and boosting the local manufacturing ecosystem.
Bulk drug park for pharma excellence
Modi laid the foundation stone for the bulk drug park project in Nakkapalli, one of three such parks in India. This initiative will enhance manufacturing infrastructure, attract investments, and benefit local pharmaceutical companies, contributing to the state’s industrial growth.
Urbanization and industrial development
The Prime Minister highlighted Andhra Pradesh’s progress in urbanization, including the Krishnapatnam Industrial Area, also known as Kris City, under the Chennai-Bengaluru Industrial Corridor. The project is expected to attract significant investments and create millions of industrial jobs.
He noted the state’s success with Shri City as a manufacturing hub and emphasized the government’s Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme to promote manufacturing, positioning Andhra Pradesh among India’s top industrial states.
South Coast Railway Zone and connectivity boost
Modi laid the foundation stone for the South Coast Railway Zone headquarters in Visakhapatnam, fulfilling a long-standing demand. The project will boost agriculture, trade, tourism, and the local economy.
Additionally, he announced connectivity projects worth thousands of crores, including the development of over 70 railway stations under the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme. The state has achieved 100% railway electrification and is operating seven Vande Bharat trains to improve connectivity and travel.
Promoting the blue economy
Modi highlighted the significance of Andhra Pradesh’s coastline for India’s trade and the modernization of Visakhapatnam Fishing Harbour. He emphasized initiatives like providing Kisan Credit Cards to fishermen and enhancing maritime security to strengthen the blue economy.
Inclusive growth and prosperity
Modi reiterated the Union government’s commitment to inclusive development across all sectors. He stressed that these projects would enhance the ease of living and doing business in Andhra Pradesh, laying the foundation for the state’s ambitious $2.5 trillion economy.

The event was attended by Andhra Pradesh Governor Abdul Nazeer, Union Minister for Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu, Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and other dignitaries.
Modi congratulated the people of Andhra Pradesh and expressed optimism for a prosperous and modern future for the state.
