New Delhi : In the 114th edition of his Mann Ki Baat address on Sunday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi highlighted the rapidly evolving nature of jobs in India and encouraged the nation’s creative professionals to take advantage of new opportunities in sectors such as gaming, animation, and filmmaking. He called on creators to actively participate in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting’s ‘Create in India’ Challenge, aimed at nurturing India’s creative talents.
‘Create in India’ challenge unveiled
The ‘Create in India’ Challenge was officially launched on August 22, 2024, by Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who holds portfolios in Information and Broadcasting, Railways, and Electronics & Information Technology. The initiative seeks to boost creative talent across various fields and serves as a precursor to the World Audio Visual & Entertainment Summit (WAVES). The challenge aligns with PM Modi’s broader vision of “Design in India, Design for the World,” as expressed during his 78th Independence Day speech.
New sectors reshaping job market
Addressing the nation, PM Modi emphasized the growing scope in emerging fields such as gaming, filmmaking, reel creation, and animation. “In these changing times, the nature of jobs is evolving, with new opportunities in areas like gaming, animation, filmmaking, and poster making. If you perform well in these skills, your talent can find a global platform,” the Prime Minister said, encouraging professionals to explore creative careers.
25 challenges to unleash creativity
To support this creative movement, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has launched 25 challenges as part of the ‘Create in India’ initiative. These challenges cover a broad range of fields, including music, education, and anti-piracy measures. The Prime Minister urged creators to visit the official WAVES India website to participate, saying, “I specially urge creators in the country to ensure their participation and bring their creativity to the fore.”
Encouragement for creative professionals
PM Modi also highlighted the potential of community radio, bands, and other creative outlets, noting their growing importance in today’s job market. His message was clear—creative professionals have an unprecedented opportunity to showcase their talents on a global stage through initiatives like ‘Create in India’.
