Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: District Superintendent of Police (SP) V Harshavardhan Raju underscored the importance of women police personnel and their families prioritizing health and participating in regular medical check-ups. His remarks came during the conclusion of a three-day breast and cervical cancer screening camp conducted in collaboration with Vijayawada Manipal Hospital on Thursday.
Focus on women’s health in the police force
During the event, SP Harshavardhan Raju stressed the need for timely health check-ups, particularly for women in the police force and their families. He pointed out that their demanding work often leaves little time for self-care, making initiatives like medical camps crucial.
“We aim to give the highest priority to police welfare, and I encourage everyone to take advantage of such health programs,” said the SP.
Ongoing commitment to police welfare
The SP shared that a free medical examination camp was held last month for police personnel at the district’s police welfare hospital, with plans to organize more camps in the future. The objective, he said, is to ensure that staff who cannot undergo regular check-ups due to work commitments have access to necessary health services.
Collaborative effort and appreciation
The camp, held at Umesh Chandra Kalyanamandapam, was made possible with the cooperation of Manipal Hospital. SP Raju extended his special thanks to the hospital’s staff, particularly Managing Director Dr. Sudhakar Kantipudi and Radiation Oncologist Dr. Sridivya, Ram Chakravarthi and supporting staff for their support in conducting the cancer screenings.
SP Harshavardhan also congratulated the police personnel who worked tirelessly to ensure the success of the event, specifically acknowledging AR Additional SP SSV Krishna Rao, Additional SP (Admin) K Prakash Babu, and female SIs Pavani and Nasreen, and female constables Lakshmidevi, Madhavilatha and Krishnaveni, and Police Officers’ Association President Dulam Suresh, Vice President Uppu Shankar.
Blue Bus cancer screening initiative
During the camp’s closing, the SP toured the ‘Blue Bus,’ a mobile cancer screening unit equipped with advanced technology. He praised the initiative, which aims to provide easy access to cancer detection for women police personnel and their families.
SP Raju presented mementos to the Manipal Hospital staff in recognition of their efforts.
Next steps for medical welfare
SP Raju reiterated his commitment to expanding medical care services for the police force. “Our focus remains on ensuring that our personnel stay healthy and have access to the best medical care. More camps like this will be arranged, and staff should make the most of these opportunities.”
