Yemmiganure – Andhra Pradesh: A bike rally in Yemmiganur town, organized by the United Front of Farmers and Labor Unions, saw leaders demand the repeal of anti-farmer and anti-labour laws introduced by the NDA government, warning of intensified agitation if their demands are not met.
Rally highlights call for change
On Sunday, AIKMS District General Secretary M Satyanna and IFTU District Leader S Balaraju led a bike rally in Emmiganur town, starting from the IFTU office. The rally, attended by several supporters, aimed to highlight the growing discontent among farmers and workers over policies deemed detrimental to their livelihoods.
Criticism of anti-farmer laws
Speaking at the rally, M Satyanna stated that the BJP government, now in its third consecutive term, introduced three controversial laws that pushed the agriculture sector towards corporatization. While these “black laws” were repealed following widespread protests by the farming community, the leaders emphasized the damage caused during their implementation.
Labor rights under threat
S Balaraju criticized the central government’s move to consolidate 44 labour laws into four labor codes, alleging that the new codes strip workers of essential rights and protections. He highlighted that the government plans to implement these labor codes starting April 1, a decision that has sparked widespread resistance.
Demand for immediate action
The leaders demanded the immediate withdrawal of the four labour codes and other anti-farmer policies. They warned both the central and state governments of intensified nationwide agitations led by farmer and labour unions if their demands are not met.
Strong participation by leaders and supporters
The event witnessed the participation of prominent leaders, including Babu, Ramudu, Narasimhulu, Venkatesh, Pedda Reddy, Narahari, Raju, Ashok, Anjinayya, Veeranjinayulu, and Jayaraju. The rally reflected a united front determined to protect the rights of farmers and workers.
