East and West Godavari Districts: Award-winning teachers from the East and West Godavari districts are urging Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu to honour their achievements in person, following a delay caused by MLC election protocols. For these 26 educators, receiving the Best Teacher Award from the CM remains a symbol of recognition that they hope will soon become a reality.
Unfulfilled dream of a memorable recognition
Receiving the Best Teacher Award is a milestone, symbolizing a teacher’s dedication and impact. Traditionally, awardees accept this honour directly from the Chief Minister in the presence of the Education Minister and high-ranking officials, creating a moment of pride shared with colleagues, students, and family. However, this year, teachers from the joint East and West Godavari districts were unable to experience this distinction due to an unexpected hurdle.
Election code overshadows award ceremony
The delay stems from the MLC election code in these districts, which inadvertently halted the planned award ceremony. While educators in other districts celebrated this moment on November 11, those from East and West Godavari districts watched the televised event with disappointment. The timing of the election code, viewed by many teachers as a “political curse,” effectively postponed the in-person ceremony, depriving them of the recognition enjoyed by their peers.
Teachers’ appeal to Chief Minister and Education Minister
In a public appeal, the awardees respectfully requested Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, Education Minister Nara Lokesh, and the Commissioner to consider rescheduling an official ceremony after the election code period. They emphasized that being awarded by the CM—whom they regard as a visionary and champion of education—would provide lasting inspiration and pride for them and their communities.
Request for alternative recognition event
To uphold the significance of this award, the teachers suggested holding the ceremony at a later date, possibly at a government event or the CM’s camp office. Many expressed that even a smaller gathering would fulfill their desire for recognition and serve as an enduring reminder of their dedication to education.
Awaiting justice and recognition
The 26 award-winning teachers from the East and West Godavari districts are hopeful that their request will be acknowledged and their long-awaited moment of pride restored. They remain eager to receive the Best Teacher Award directly from the hands of the CM, whose encouragement they believe will further fuel their commitment to educating future generations.
