Field Assistants demand justice for murdered colleague, seek government support

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: At a meeting in Amalapuram, field assistant leaders condemned the brutal murder of Kuruma Eeranna in Kurnool district, demanding swift justice, compensation for his family, and steps to prevent future attacks on field assistants across the state.

Condemnation of a tragic murder

The Ambedkar Konaseema District Field Assistant Association expressed deep sorrow over the murder of Eeranna, a field assistant in Arikera village, Alur mandal, on January 24. The district committee condemned the broad daylight killing and called for immediate action from the state government and district authorities to apprehend the culprits.

Demands for justice and support

Sriram, a district leader of the Field Assistant Association, demanded that the state government:

Arrest and severely punish the assailants.
Provide Rs. 50 lakh as compensation to Eeranna’s family.
Offer a government job to Eeranna’s wife.

The association emphasized the need for measures to prevent such incidents in the future and ensure the safety of field assistants.

Concerns over political harassment and job security

During the meeting, CITU District President G Durga Prasad and Secretary Nukala Balaram addressed the challenges faced by field assistants. They highlighted concerns over political harassment, delayed salaries, and lack of job security. The leaders demanded prompt resolution of these issues to protect field assistants from undue hardships.

The district committee urged the state government to take immediate steps to safeguard field assistants across Andhra Pradesh, ensuring timely salary payments and a harassment-free work environment.

Participation and solidarity

Leaders such as D Srinivasa Rao, A Srinivas, and Madda Ramesh joined the meeting, voicing their solidarity with Eeranna’s family and the field assistant community. The gathering ended with a call for collective action to ensure justice and improved working conditions for all field assistants.
