SP orders crackdown on rowdy-sheeters, betting, drugs in Kadapa

Kadapa -Andhra Pradesh: Stressing zero tolerance towards crime and anti-social activities, District Superintendent of Police Shelke Nachiket Vishwanath directed police officers to intensify surveillance on rowdy-sheeters, habitual offenders, and individuals with criminal backgrounds during a crime review meeting of the Kadapa Police Sub-Division held on Saturday.
Special surveillance on habitual offenders
The District SP instructed officers to closely monitor the movements of rowdy-sheeters, troublemakers, and those with past criminal records. He emphasized mapping theft-prone areas, keeping watch on repeat offenders, and strengthening patrols to prevent crimes.
Strict action against betting and gambling
He ordered stringent action against anti-social activities such as matka, cricket betting, and gambling, directing police to intensify raids and register cases without compromise.
Priority to women’s safety
Highlighting women’s safety as a top priority, the SP instructed ‘Shakti’ teams to supervise day beats and ensure regular patrols near schools, colleges, offices, business complexes, and crowded places. He also directed that awareness programs be conducted in educational institutions on women’s safety and cyber harassment.
He further ordered that women’s complaints in all police stations be handled promptly through designated female receptionists within a stipulated timeframe.
Focus on ganja, drugs, and open drinking
The SP instructed officers to conduct raids using drone cameras against ganja and narcotics trafficking and to take action against those consuming alcohol in public places.
Timely investigation and public grievance redressal
He directed that cases arising from land disputes and financial issues be thoroughly investigated and completed within the prescribed timeframe as per legal procedures. He also stressed respectful handling of complainants approaching the Public Grievance Redressal System (PGRS) and timely resolution of their grievances.
Mandatory CCTV installation in public places
Invoking the AP Public Safety Act, the SP instructed shop owners, lodge and hotel managements, apartment associations, and managers of commercial complexes to install CCTV cameras and ensure their proper functioning.
Road safety measures intensified
As part of the 37th National Road Safety Month, the SP directed officers to create awareness on traffic rules and helmet usage. He ordered identification of accident-prone causes, preventive measures, and surprise checks against drunk driving, overspeeding, and rule violations, including verification of vehicle records.
