Kadapa – Andhra Pradesh: Student unions and private degree college associations staged a massive protest in Kadapa on Monday, demanding the state government release pending scholarships and fee reimbursements worth Rs 6,400 crore, warning of intensified agitations if their demands are not met.
Massive protest in Kadapa
The massive protest rally, organized under the aegis of the Degree College Association and student unions, was held from ITI Balaji Nagar Bridge to Sandhya Circle via Kotireddy Circle. A large number of students and union leaders participated in the demonstration.
Core demands raised
Student leaders said the long-pending Rs 6,400 crore dues are severely affecting students’ futures. Many are unable to obtain certificates, blocking admissions into higher education programs like MBA, MCA, MMC, and M.Sc. They demanded the immediate cancellation of GO No. 77, which they said deprives poor and middle-class students of fee reimbursement benefits.
Warning of statewide agitation
RSF State President DM Obulesu Yadav, PSU State General Secretary Subbarayudu, AISB National Convener Jayawardhan, AIBSS State President Jagan Nayak, PDSU State Vice President M Ankanna, and AISF District Leader Chandra demanded that the pending Rs 6,400 crore fee reimbursement and scholarships be resolved within the ongoing Assembly sessions. They warned that failure to do so would trigger a Chalo Vijayawada program and a wider state-wide movement.
Successful college bandh
Leaders including Srihari Subbareddy (Private Degree Colleges Association), SVDC Srinivasulu, and Sahitya Sanjeeva Reddy noted that Monday’s state-wide degree college bandh was successful, reflecting the growing discontent among students.
Mass participation
Union leaders Rajendra, Gopi, and Ravi, along with hundreds of students, joined the protest, vowing to continue the struggle until the government releases the funds and restores full fee reimbursement for PG students.
