Delhi – Net News: In response to the escalating conflict between India and Pakistan, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) has postponed the Chartered Accountancy (CA) exams scheduled from May 9 to May 14, 2025. The decision affects thousands of candidates nationwide, particularly in high-alert regions.

ICAI defers CA exams nationwide

The ICAI announced the postponement of the CA Final, Intermediate, and International Taxation – Assessment Test (INTT-AT) exams that were slated to occur between May 9 and May 14, 2025. The institute cited the prevailing security situation due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan as the reason for this decision. Revised exam dates will be communicated in due course .

Punjab shuts educational institutions amid security concerns

The Punjab government has ordered the closure of all educational institutions, including schools, colleges, and universities, for three days starting May 7, 2025. This precautionary measure follows India’s recent air and missile strikes targeting terrorist infrastructure in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, which were in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 civilian lives.

Jammu and Kashmir government maintains operational status

In contrast, the Jammu and Kashmir administration has not announced any closures of government offices or educational institutions. The government has released an unchanged list of holidays for 2025, indicating that all departments, including educational institutions, will continue to function as per the regular schedule.

Escalation of India-Pakistan conflict

Tensions between India and Pakistan have escalated significantly following a series of military engagements. India conducted air and missile strikes on nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir in response to a deadly attack on Indian tourists in Kashmir. Pakistan retaliated by downing five Indian jets. The conflict has led to civilian casualties on both sides and has disrupted daily life, including the suspension of flights from 24 airports and the closure of schools in several Indian states.

Impact on students and educational activities

The postponement of CA exams and the closure of educational institutions have disrupted academic schedules for students across the affected regions. Candidates preparing for the CA exams are advised to stay updated through official ICAI communications for information on rescheduled dates. Educational authorities are monitoring the situation closely and will provide further guidance as the security scenario evolves.
