Summer camps launched to shape students as socially aware citizens

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: Concerned about increasing screen addiction and ideological influence on children during school holidays, leaders of several democratic and public associations in Amalapuram have initiated summer camps aimed at nurturing students into future citizens grounded in science and creativity.
Joint call for societal role in child development
A joint meeting was held at the United Teachers Federation (UTF) district office in Amalapuram on Tuesdaty, bringing together leaders from organizations such as UTF, AIDWA, SFI, JVV, KVPS, the Agricultural Workers Union, and CITU. District General Secretary MTV Subbarao, who chaired the meeting, emphasized the need for society to actively engage in shaping children into responsible builders of tomorrow’s society.
Concerns over screen addiction and ideological influence
Speaking at the meeting, AIDWA district leader D Adilakshmi expressed concern over the growing influence of television and mobile phones on students during the summer break. She also warned about the spread of various ideologies among students and called on democratic forces to play a proactive role in shaping children with rational and scientific thinking. She stressed the joint responsibility of society and parents in this task.
Summer camps across Amalapuram and surrounding areas
As a proactive measure, the associations announced the organization of summer camps in various mandals including Amalapuram, Mummidivaram, Aipolavaram, Rajolu, and Allavaram. The camps will offer sessions on science, mathematics, drawing, crafts, and origami—encouraging both intellectual and creative development.
Focus on science, creativity, and social responsibility
The camps aim to promote scientific temper, artistic skills, and social awareness among students. Organizers believe this initiative will help counteract distractions and guide children toward constructive, community-oriented growth.
The meeting saw the active participation of several community leaders and activists including B Srinivasa Rao, G. Ramana, Ch Kesava Rao, Sivakumar, Chandrakala, T Nagavaralakshmi, G Durga Prasad, P Murugeswara Rao, Kashi, P Shiva, K Shankar B. Dilip, Daivakrupa, P Amulya, Ch Satyaveni, S Satya, BN Venkateswarlu, Kaarem Venkateswara Rao, Tadi Sriramurthy, and Bunga Sattanarayana.
