RPC leaders decry corruption, poor services in Rajahmundry government hospital
By Doruvu Paul Jagan Babu: Assistant Chief Editor

Andhra Pradesh: Senior members of the Rashtriya Praja Congress (RPC) expressed serious concern over corruption and deteriorating public services in Rajahmundry, highlighting issues in the government hospital and municipal corporation during their weekend meeting.
Allegations of negligence in government hospital services
At the RPC headquarters, senior secular leaders Simma Durga Rao and Medicharla Srinivasa Rao alleged that Rajahmundry Government Hospital is plagued by corruption and mismanagement. They pointed out issues such as expired medicines, unhygienic conditions, improper blood tests, and negligent medical services, causing additional health risks instead of treating illnesses.
The leaders accused some government doctors of prioritizing private and corporate hospital interests over patient care. They demanded transparency, suggesting that a white paper on the hospital’s expenditure over the last decade would expose severe irregularities.
Municipal Corporation under fire for poor civic services
The leaders criticized the Rajahmundry Municipal Corporation for failing to maintain basic infrastructure. Complaints included:
Widespread mosquito menace and foul-smelling canals
Non-functional streetlights in several areas
Contaminated drinking water due to drainage leaks
Unhygienic public spaces, particularly around the Pushkarala dock and Chitrangi Guest House
Increased presence of anti-social elements near Municipal Corporation premises
They alleged that despite repeated complaints, the Health Department and municipal staff were indifferent, and lack of effective supervision by the Municipal Commissioner worsened the situation.
Rise in corruption and erosion of public trust
The RPC leaders warned that unchecked corruption is leading to growing public distrust. They noted that, unlike in the past when grievances were resolved by higher authorities, today complaints often result in further victimization, with lower-level officials allegedly perpetuating corrupt practices. They cautioned that if the situation continues, it could lead to serious social unrest.
RPC reiterates commitment to public welfare
The meeting was presided over by RPC Senior Secular Dudde Suresh.
Other RPC secular leaders including Dudde Trinad, Vardhanapu Sarath Kumar, Sunkara Venkata Bhaskara Ranga Rao, and several others participated, collectively vowing to continue highlighting public issues in Rajahmundry.
