New Delhi & Andhra Pradesh: Yuva Sangam, a flagship initiative by the Ministry of Education, promotes cultural exchange and unity among youth across Indian states and union territories. Participants aged 18-30, including students, NSS/NYKS volunteers, and young professionals, engage in immersive experiences under the program, which embodies India’s “unity in diversity.”
Phase 5 highlights
The fifth phase of Yuva Sangam commenced with 44 delegates from Bihar beginning their journey to Karnataka on November 24, 2024. On November 25, 50 delegates from Andhra Pradesh embarked on their tour to Uttar Pradesh. The initiative’s meticulous selection process, managed by nodal Higher Education Institutes (HEIs), ensures diverse representation among participants.
Exploration under 5 Ps framework
During their 5-7 day tours, participants receive multi-dimensional exposure under five key areas—Paryatan (Tourism), Parampara (Traditions), Pragati (Development), Paraspar Sampark (People-to-people connect), and Prodyogiki (Technology). These facets aim to provide a holistic experience, deepening cross-cultural understanding.
Broad national impact
Since its pilot phase in 2022, Yuva Sangam has attracted over 44,000 registrations, with 4,795 participants engaging in 114 tours across phases. Phase 5 features 20 eminent institutions coordinating the exchange programs.
Collaborative implementation
The program exemplifies the “Whole of Government” approach, with contributions from multiple ministries, including Home Affairs, Culture, Tourism, Youth Affairs & Sports, and Railways. The end-to-end execution, from delegate selection to tour facilitation, is led by nodal HEIs, supported by state governments and agencies.
Yuva Sangam continues to reinforce India’s cultural fabric, empowering its youth through meaningful interactions and knowledge sharing.
