Vijayawada: In a push for equal educational opportunities, Anti-Caste Discrimination Sangham (KVPS) State General Secretary Andra Malyadri, and Rythu Sangam leaders V Krishnaiah, K Prabakar Reddy, and Anjaneyulu submitted a memorandum to Social Welfare Department Principal Secretary Kannababu, on Monday, highlighting the need to revive Dr. B R Ambedkar Study Circles across the state. The leaders intend to bring this appeal to the attention of the Chief Minister to improve access to competitive exam preparation for marginalized communities.
Appeal for postponement of Group-2 Mains examination
The delegation pointed out that the Andhra Pradesh Public Service Commission (APPSC) has scheduled the Group-2 Mains examination for January 5. With concerns raised by candidates and youth groups about insufficient preparation time, the petitioners, joined by MLC KS Lakshmana Rao, urged that APPSC consider moving the exam to February, allowing candidates adequate time to prepare.
Need for free training and study resources
A significant number of Dalit and Tribal candidates qualified for the Group-2 Mains, despite limited access to competitive exam preparation facilities. Petitioners emphasized the need for free study materials, quality faculty, and hostel accommodation to support these candidates, recommending Dr. B R Ambedkar Study Circles in Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati as ideal locations for these resources.
Call to support candidates from marginalized communities
The delegation expressed their commitment to advocating for the success of SC and ST candidates and highlighted the potential impact of restoring study circles on the overall welfare and advancement of marginalized communities in the state. The memorandum is expected to reach the Chief Minister’s desk soon, with hopes of a swift decision to allocate the requested resources and fulfill this long-standing need for educational support.
