CPM demands immediate implementation of free sand guarantee by TDP Govt.

Amalapuram – Andhra Pradesh: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) raised serious concerns over the failure of the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) government to deliver on its election promise of free sand. At a CPM District Committee meeting, party leaders warned of intensified protests if the government does not act promptly to make sand accessible to the public.
CPM criticizes TDP for failing to fulfill promises
At the district committee meeting on Friday, held under the chairmanship of Comrade N Balaram, CPM state leaders B Balaram and Andra Malyadri expressed dissatisfaction over the TDP’s performance after 100 days in office. They specifically criticized the government’s inability to keep its promise of providing free sand, leaving people to pay exorbitant prices, ranging from Rs 7,000 to Rs 8,000 per tractor load.
Call for immediate action to make sand accessible
The CPM leaders demanded the immediate implementation of the free sand guarantee, stressing that the government should ensure affordable access to sand for all citizens. They highlighted the dire situation faced by construction workers and others dependent on this sector, who are struggling due to the current shortage.
Statewide protests planned for October 4
The CPM announced protest programs across the state on October 4, aiming to pressure the government to address the sand shortage. Leaders warned that if alternative solutions are not introduced soon, the protests will intensify statewide.

District convener Kaarem Venkateswara Rao, along with district committee members G Durgaprasad, K Krishnaveni, T Naga Varalakshmi, and others, attended the meeting. They collectively pledged to continue pressing the government for swift action on this critical issue affecting livelihoods across the state.
